Scrapbooking Ideas

You've got all the photos from your summer vacation, your child's first year or some other special occasion. You are surrounded by a sea of photos just begging to be put in your scrapbook. You have every possible paper, sticker and other scrapbooking supply available. You are ready to scrapbook. You have no idea what you are going to do. You have run out of scrapbooking ideas!

Does this sound familiar to you? We have all been there and it is a bad place to be. These days I don't have a lot of time to scrapbook, so if I can find the time I've got no time to waste thinking of new and exciting scrapbooking ideas. For this reason, I have found a number of things that I can do to help keep this problem from happening.

First and foremost I brainstorm. For instance, if I know that I will have 2 hours in the afternoon during nap time to do a few pages, I will pick out the pictures a day or so ahead of time and come up with as many scrapbooking ideas as I can for those pictures. I look through my scrapbooking supplies so that I know what I have available and what I have to work with. I find that this is probably my best way to come up with ideas as I don't have the pressure of thinking of things on the spur of the moment.

I also have a scrapbooking hotline with a few friends who scrapbook as well. We call each other all the time for scrapbooking ideas and share the latest pages and layouts we have done or seen. It is not unusual for my phone to ring at 10:00 at night to find a friend of mine on the other line saying "I've got 5 pictures of the kids building a snowman, any ideas?"

Less is more has become one of my mottos when it comes to scrapbooking ideas. I have found that sometimes you just need to let the pictures do the talking and take more time describing the event and what happened instead of adding tons of stickers and borders. Some of my favorite pages capture the event in photos and words more than anything else.

For an unending supply of scrapbooking ideas, you need to go on the web and search for scrapbooking sites. You will find sites that offer tips and suggestions, chat rooms where others can share their ideas and sites that allow scrapbookers to display their pages. With just a click of your mouse you will have an endless supply of scrapbooking ideas no matter what your theme and no matter what time of the day it is.
